Four Ways Your Kids Can Help You Move!
Moving can be a stressful time for parents because, in addition to organizing the move, they still have to take care of other commitments. Commitments such as jobs, caring for pets and tending to the kids still need to be taken care of, while moving. Although not much can be done to incorporate job responsibilities into the moving process; kids, on the other hand, can be involved in the moving process. In fact, soliciting the help of your kids when moving is a great way to keep them busy and entertained. The following are some fun ways your kids can help you move, and make the moving process easier for you.
Labeling Boxes
If you have kids who can write properly, entrust them with the task of labeling moving boxes. Kids love to do adult stuff, so let them help you save some time by labeling your plastic moving boxes. Besides it being fun for the kids, labeling boxes help to keep them busy and out of your hair for many hours. However, ensure that they do not do any lifting of boxes, to prevent accidents from occurring.
Discarding Stuff
When moving to a new home, you will have to sort through your belongings to see which items to leave behind. You will also have to sort through the possessions of your kids as well. Packing an Essentials Box
Every member of the family will need an essentials moving box containing all the things they will need right after a move. For your kids, this will mean things like toothbrushes, pajamas, storybooks, etc. If they are old enough, you can provide them with a checklist of these items, and ask them to find them and place them in their essentials bag.
Cleaning Up
Kids that are old enough can help you with cleaning the house in preparation for the next person moving in. You can assign them to tasks appropriate for their ages like wiping down surfaces, taking out the trash, cleaning spills, etc. Little help in cleaning the house can go a long way in reducing the work you have to do. But be sure that they do not take on any tasks involving chemicals or heavy equipment.
